Simonstown Gaels 4-20
Wolfe Tones 2-7
Simonstown welcomed their near neighbours Wolfe Tones to North Navan on Wednesday evening for their first match of the U15 Division 2 Championship.
Wolfe Tones started the brighter & registered the first 2 points of the match but Simonstown soon settled & once they got on top around the middle, started to dominate possession & pick off some lovely scores. By half time Simonstown had built up a healthy lead & ended the half 1-12 to 1-3 ahead but playing into the breeze in the second half.
Simonstown took control of the second half from the start & continued to dominate the exchanges which yielded 3 further goals to ensure they ran out convincing winners.
Simonstown played some very good football & when they moved the ball at pace created a number of goal scoring chances. Another pleasing aspect of the performance was that 9 different players contributed to their final tally.
Next up for Simonstown is a trip to Trim on Friday 30th August to play Trim in their rescheduled first round fixture followed by the short journey to Paddy O’Brien Park on Wednesday 4th September to play local rivals Navan O’Mahonys.
