Simonstown's first competitive game in 2021 will be against senior champions Ratoath in the Feis Cup.

Meath county board has opted to dispense with the regular league this year and has instead fixed an enhanced Feis Cup programme which will play out between now and the start of the championships in the middle of August.

The last regulation game in each group is scheduled for the week after July 18.

The rationale for preferencing a Feis Cup instead of a league is that is confined to senior teams and will reflect more current form, relating back to where clubs finished in 2020.

It will however lead to a curtailed fixtures programme for adult teams for the second successive year with a minimum of 11 guaranteed games.

Na Fianna, Seneschalstown, Wolfe Tones, St Colmcille's, Skyrne and Ballinabrackey are all in Simonstown's group with games being played on a home and away basis, starting after June 7 when competitive games are officially cleared to take place again.

There are no leagues either for the second and third teams. Instead, they will compete in eight-team round robin groups with seven games guaranteed through June, July and August with semi-finals and relegation semi-finals to follow for the top and bottom two teams in each group.

Meanwhile, best of luck to Aaron Chincilla who has made the Meath U-20 squad for the forthcoming Leinster Championship.
